The idea of setting up this event came thinking back to the tradition of Calcio Fiorentino, its protagonists, gentlemen dressed in gaudy liveries, and the time of year historically preferred by the Florentines to practice it. The objective is to revisit Carnascialeschi Games that were held in Florence in the late Middle Ages and early Renaissance-tournaments and duels suggestive feasts of Lorenzo de ‘Medici, to revive the spirit of the ancient games, pass on the traditions and popular physical activities and playful era when Florence was one of the most important capitals of the world. The site chosen for the Middle Ages and Renaissance Village is the angle of the most intriguing and evocative Medicean Park Cascine in the city: the Amphitheatre and the Lawn of the Crows.
