Every year, the Centro Guide tourism office, ( with the support of the Florence Ente Casse di Risparmio), organizes a series of conferences during the period which goes from December 2011 to March 2012.
The common theme of this cycle is the history of the Florence and Tuscany gardens, from the Middle Ages to the present day, in order to highlight and promote this important part of our heritage which blends nature, art and history. As with every year the conference will be held by experts, garden directors, botanists, art historians and tour guides.
The introductory and the presentation lectures will be given by professors and experts from the University of Florence. As of January these presentations will be followed by lectures regarding the historical gardens in Florence, from Boboli to the Medici Villas right up to the recent examples of Ambient Art, and significant restorations such as the Villa Bardini Garden and the Villa Peyron Garden.
Antonella Massa’s conference on the 01/03/2012 will deal with the evolution of contemporary sculpture that has encouraged the development of Tuscany’s Sculpture Gardens. Numerous images will be used to discuss the major contemporary artistic movements and works of the most representative artists.
The conference will be held in Via Folco Portinari at the Ente Cassa di Risparmio Auditorium at 5:30 p.m.. A donation will be required to participate. Single conference € 5, Subscriptions € 40. The series of lectures will be held from December 7 to March 15 for a total of 13 meetings.
